Building Information Modelling

- Open Data Standards in Civil Engineering (BIM), focusing on open BIM in education

22-23 August 2016 at the Technical University of Denmark

More information can be found at: www.conferencemanager.dk/MSSCE2016/13bim-workshop.html

As more and more information in the AEC and FM industries is stored in a variety of IT systems, it is becoming increasingly important that the information is well structured, accessible and can be integrated. BuildingSMART and OGC are some of the most significant contributors to developing specifications, such as Information Foundation Classes (IFC), Model View Definition (MVD) incl. COBie, BIM Collaboration Format (BCF), Information Delivery Manual (IDM) and buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD) that enable the sharing and exchange of data in predefined structures. A number of these specifications have become international standards and several are proposed as European standards as well.

Educational organisations play an important role in training students to benefit from, understand and take responsibility in the adoption of integrated information technology based on open standards in the construction and facilities management industries.

Conference papers should follow the guidelines given at www.conferencemanager.dk/MSSCE2016, while extended abstracts should follow the following guidelines:

  • Maximum 800 words
  • Specify which one of the following options you prefer;
    • Presentation of curriculum on open BIM;
    • Presentation of educational material;
    • Presentation of building information models in open standards;
    • Demonstration of prototypes for educational purposes.

Both papers and extended abstracts should be sent to jak@byg.dtu.dk as the official deadline is exceeded.
